Cyberpunk Font, 2018
We were supposed to design a set of alphabet for this project. I’m always a fan of Cyberpunk therefore I chose it as the theme of my alphabet.
During the initial research stage, I summarized some key features of Cyberpunk: geometrical and modular shape, highly condensed negative space, dramatic contrast caused by the exaggerated proportions. With those elements combined together, here goes the Cyberpunk alphabet.
The process was also interesting, rather than the normal workflow, I started with a square, tried to cut some edges and then experimented different ways of inserting the negative space to create the overall letter.
After that the alphabet contributed to a publication about mahjong because of the highly modular shape which was similar to mahjong cards.
