This was a one week short PSA project. I chose the topic of plastic surgery. As there are lots of people from the young generation in China turned to step into or even be addicted to plastic surgery. Actually, this phenomenon is worldwide. With the development of finance and the change of the perspective of the public, especially nowadays social media are becoming more and more influential, the amount of the people who are more inclined to take plastic surgery shot up too. The average age of the audience of plastic surgery has become younger too.
I don’t have any negative thoughts on plastic surgery, these precise procedures could bring new lives to some people, but abusing it could cause a terrible outcome.
There are some people who absolutely ‘sink’ into plastic surgeries and have blind faith in the outcome. Social media could exaggerate and amplify the advantages of plastic surgery and lighten or even beautify the side effects and the cost, not only the cost of money, but also the time, the energy and etc. These clearly biased and misleading views may lead some people to a path with no return. Plastic surgery is not a panacea, it can't help you solve all the disappointments in life.
Like the lyrics saying, does a new face come with a warranty, will a pretty face make it better? Some audience might dive into plastic surgery without considering these problems, without getting a comprehensive understanding of plastic surgery.
I chose one typical type of audience as my protagonist, a confused and unconfident one. He or she might be unsatisfied with his or her body parts, with the catalysis of social media he or she has the first job done without overall consideration. Then he or she become unsatisfied again immediately. It’s like a vicious circulation, he or she might become gambler of his or her face and never goes back, until things become unrecoverable. In order to match the overall concept, the frame of the person became thicker and thicker, finally turned into a cage which was hard to break.
Stop the abuse of plastic surgery.
